Le pentathlon moderne sont au programme pour la femmes

Leydi Laura Moya Lopez beat the odds by clinching the gold medal in the modern pentathlon at the Youth Olympic Games, despite having a 1:19 handicap time (means she had to wait for a minute and nineteen seconds after the first winner from the previous event had started before she can start) for the last event which is the combined running/shooting.
The Cuban was placed sixth for the intermediate results from the previous disciplines, with Hungarian Zsofia Foldhazi in first place with Republic of Korea's Choi Min Ji and Ukraine's Anastasiya Spas in second and third runner-up respectively.
The combined running/shooting was the most intense of the series of five events of the modern pentathlon as it is the crux of all the events and the one which will determine the winners.  The run is a 3000m run, and a shooting gallery at 1000m interval where they have to aim at the bull's-eye for 5 successful hits. If they succeed, they will continue with the run.
The initial favourite was the tall and drop-dead gorgeous Spaniard Nuria Chavarria (her male equivalent is as equally as hot as her. But I'll save that for tomorrow when I get to see him in action), whose agile and deft mastery with the epee make her a favourite as she won round after round, only losing about 6 rounds out of a total 24 rounds (if I'm not wrong), making her the champion for the fencing round, even beating world champion Zsofia Foldhazi.
Foldhazi is one of the most consistent participant, being at the top five for the first four games. However, the final event really drove her to her wit's end, enabling Moya Lopez to become champion. The same can be said for Choi Min Ji and Spas, who were worn out from the run (imagine doing one event after another with only an hour's break), settling with eighth and third place respectively. However, Czech Republic's Alice Lencova was worse off. From fourth place in the total score before the final event to the sixteenth position, a drastic decline in position. The combined running/shooting really brought her to her demise as her timing for the run is really bad.
In contrast, Singapore's Valerie Lim, who came in last in both fencing and swimming, did herself justice by doing extremely well for the combined running/shooting event, clinching the eighteenth position out of twenty-four even though she had a handicap start-time of 2:41. I am really proud of her. And when she crossed the finishing line, the every Singaporean in the stands gave her a standing ovation for overcoming all odds and that she never once show signs of giving up even though she was always in the bottom place for the other events.
The modern pentathlon is made up of equestrian, fencing, running, shooting and swimming. But the equestrian discipline was scrapped off from the modern pentathlon.

Because I said so and I took a bit of effort typing the above statement.
